OLD CROW WETLANDS

The Old Crow Wildlife Observation Area is a PENNDOT Advance Wetland Compensation Project. The Old Crow Wetland is located along William Penn Highway (US Route 22) south of the road and about a quarter mile east of the intersection of Routes 22 and 26.  Although less than 10 acres, this wetland, a little cattail oasis, attracts various birds, including green herons, willow flycatchers, red-winged blackbirds, bitterns and marsh wrens.   While not built or maintained by Smithfield Township, this Wetland is an environmentally important location within the Township.

HUNTINGDON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

Located in Smithfield Township on the south side of Fairgrounds Road, the over 69-acre Huntingdon County Fairgrounds is the home of the Huntingdon County Agricultural Association and the Farm Museum.  While a number of events are held at the Fairgrounds each year, the Fairgrounds is best known for the Huntingdon County Fair – the premier agricultural exposition in Pennsylvania, second only to the State Farm Show.  The Huntingdon County Fair has been a tradition for over 140 years.
