RIVERSIDE PARK

Following the devastating flood aftermath of Hurricane Agnes in 1972 and the subsequent Redevelopment Project that followed, ground became available for use as park and recreational areas.  Being in a flood prone zone, these small lots were turned over to Smithfield Township.  In the 1990s, an adjoining property was acquired and a plan was developed.  Riverside Park now exists for the public’s enjoyment.  Two pavilions are available for reservation through the Township Office.  A handicap accessible playground is located beside the largest pavilion and a paved walking path surrounds the Park.  Picnic tables and benches are scattered around the Park grounds.  A hard launch for small motorized watercraft is also available at the Park.

Located along the Juniata River, Riverside Park is accessed from Pennsylvania Avenue between S. 4th Street and Penn Street (PA 26).

Contact the Township Office 643-6702 for pavilion reservations. After-hours issues regarding approved reservations, electrical, or water issues are addressed by the Township Supervisors.
